Savannah Region

Mole National Park.

About the region

The Savannah Region in the north is open grassland, quite unlike the forested south. Mole National Park, Ghana's largest wildlife reserve, is known for its elephants, as well as antelope, baboons and warthogs. Close to the park, the village of Larabanga has one of the oldest mosques in Ghana, built of mud in the Sudanese style. It suits wildlife lovers with a few days to spare.
