About the region

The Ashanti Region is the heart of the Asante kingdom, and its capital, Kumasi, is one of Ghana's largest cities. Manhyia Palace is the seat of the Asantehene, the Asante king, and its museum tells the kingdom's story. In villages around the city, craftspeople weave kente, carve wood and print adinkra cloth. It suits travellers interested in culture, crafts and history.
